Air conditioners here fail in July, in the stretch where the heat index sits above 100 for a week. That’s when it matters that the people answering are ten minutes away rather than dispatched from Lincoln. Our technicians carry the parts that actually fail — capacitors, contactors, fan motors — so most calls end the same day.

Symptoms

What your air conditioner is telling you

Tell us which of these you're seeing when you call. Half of these have a likely part behind them, and knowing which one means we bring it with us.

  1. 01

It runs constantly but the house won't cool

Low refrigerant from a leak, a dirty condenser coil, or a failing compressor.

  2. 02

The outdoor unit hums but the fan doesn't spin

Almost always a failed capacitor. Common, cheap, and usually a same-visit fix.

  3. 03

Ice on the refrigerant line or coil

Airflow restriction or low charge. Shut it off before it damages the compressor.

  4. 04

    Water around the indoor unit

A plugged condensate drain. Left alone it finds your drywall.

  5. 05

It cools, then trips the breaker

An electrical fault or a compressor drawing too much. Don't keep resetting it.

  6. 06

Musty smell when it kicks on

Biological growth on the evaporator coil or standing water in the drain pan.

Scope

What a repair visit covers

We quote before we work. If your system still runs R-22 or is far enough gone that repair money is wasted, we'll say so — the replacement estimate is free either way.

  • Full diagnostic on the actual cause, not a guess at the symptom
  • Refrigerant pressure and superheat/subcool readings — the real measure of charge
  • Leak search before any refrigerant goes in, because topping off a leak is a rental
  • Capacitor, contactor and compressor electrical testing
  • Condenser and evaporator coil condition check
  • Condensate drain clear and pan inspection
  • The price, in writing, before the repair starts

Questions we get asked

Why does my AC keep needing refrigerant?

Because refrigerant isn't consumed — a system that's low has a leak. Anyone who just tops it off every summer is selling you the same repair annually. We find the leak first and tell you what it costs to fix versus what it costs to keep feeding it.

My system uses R-22. Can you still service it?

We can service it, but R-22 hasn't been produced or imported since 2020, and what's left is expensive. If an R-22 system needs a significant refrigerant repair, the math almost always favors replacement. We'll show you both numbers.

Ice is forming on the line outside. What do I do?

Turn the cooling off and set the fan to on. That lets the ice melt without running the compressor, which is what actually gets damaged. Then check your filter — a clogged filter is the most common cause. If it ices again after a fresh filter, call us.

How often should the AC be serviced?

Once a year, in spring before you need it. Out here the ag dust and cottonwood load the condenser coil badly, and a dirty coil makes the system work harder for less cooling. Our maintenance membership covers this along with the fall furnace check.

Do you work on all brands?

Yes — Carrier, Bryant, Trane, Lennox, York, Rheem, Goodman, Amana, American Standard, Mitsubishi and the rest. We install Carrier and we repair everything.
